“They fit just fine! My big toe is only a little off the shoe, but they fit.”
Hehe Heyyy! Welcome to my Storytime Saturday blog post! Thanks for coming to read:) These posts can include anything from when I was a toddler to when I was 14 and obsessed with drawing cheese and crackers haha…I was an interesting child. Still am! To get things up n’ running, let me start out by saying Disney Princesses have been a HUGE part of my life since birth:) My younger cousin and I used to dress up in these cute little dresses (her being much smaller and also 4 years younger than me, the costumes were extremely small on me haha), and we would show the family a fashion show of each dress.
I insisted on wearing one, along with a pair of matching plastic heels that went along with it. Mind you, the dress only went down to my knees, hers to her ankles. I was destined to wear that dress, and I was going to MAKE it fit. If you are confused as to what the hype was about them….I’m guessing you haven’t seen what they looked like. Prepare yourself:
EXHIBIT A: The dress. This dress could be snatched from the Disney Store, or probably Amazon. We had Snow White, Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella’s dresses.
EXHIBIT B: The shoes. These beloved heels were blister-inducing, pretty uncomfy, but sacred. They HAD to match the dress and pretty much completed the outfit.
I would shove the heels on my feet, nonchalantly, acting like they fit PERFECTLY. My cousin would be like uhhhh they do NOT fit. I would proceed to shove them on there, saying over n over that the shoe must have “Shrunk” or that “They were the wrong ones” hahaha. Good gravy. I could lowkey hear the dress’ seems rip a little every time I raised my arms… BUT IT WAS FINE. It fit. It was something she and I made a point to do almost every time we got together, for about a few months or so bahaha.
Anything we could possibly do as a pair, we did. This went along with riding scooters, playing house, kitchen, barbies, Shopkins, you name it! We were some creative tots, actually. We used to get some random cups, and the “Baths” the toys would take would be in this Apple scented hand sanitizer from Bath and Body Works…that’s how you REALLY play with toys.
To play with us, you had to be pretty special aha! We were a dynamic duo her and I, and we would usually have a planned out game to play every single hanging session. From there, it turned into Dance Moms and M&M yogurt Mukbangs. We have changed a lot as the years went on, but she and I will always remember the hype of the Disney Princess merch:)))
To sum things up for this little memorial of the dress-up fashion shows, I must say my future tot (if a girl) will be participating in this. They were tradition, a very special and exciting moment. Every time you opened up that big grey bin full of costumes, you knew a show was about to go down ahaha! Anywhooo-thanks so much for reading, and I hope you enjoyed that tad memory from my childhood:) My next post will be on Monday! Catch up with you then hehe!
