“It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age…” titus 2:12
Hehe heyyy:) Welcome back to another post! Thanks so much for coming to read hehe. Today’s topic has been a recurring issue of mine, and I’m really working on riddling it out: lust. Honestly, we all have SOOOO much that we want! Whether it be what we eat, what we wear, what we listen to, we all have a preference! There is nothing wrong in wanting a lot of things, just as long as we do not give in to every one we have.
Lately, I have been thinking on something that I read in the Early Morning Mercies devotion one morning, and it pointed out how a lot of times we say we NEED something when we walk into a store or we go by the drive thru. In reality, all we need is the unfailing love of Jesus. Which we already have!!! I find myself waking up and heading straight to my phone to order a drink from Sonic on the app. Though I am thinking it will satisfy me, it ends up making me regret my decision, disappointed in how I gave into my cravings.
There is no benefit in spending so much money every morning and everyday on something materialistic. Instead, we need to model our actions around ours ACTUAL needs. There is so much of my time wasted into pointless, material content that could have been spent on making myself a better human. When I think about it like this, I am way less likely to head to go shopping or waste my time on TikTok. Although it is totally okay to treat yourself every once in a while, do NOT make your WANTS your NEEDS. This will prompt you for more trouble than good.
Today, I want you to write a list of 5 things you need. If you find yourself having a hard time letting go of the every morning coffee or the every night snack run, you may need to rethink your priorities. I absolutely have to, too! It is so much easier said than done, but I promise prioritizing your needs over your wants will lead you to a much better result. Thank you so much for listening in on this daily rant, and I’ll get back to you next week!
