ONE DAY or DAY ONE?

“Change begins at the end of your comfort zone.” unknown

Hehe heyyy! Welcome back to another post, and thanks for coming to read:) As this new year is coming up, today’s topic is relevant to making a change! Personally, though I hate to admit it, I am a creature of habit. I like to continue to do the things I am used to. Over these last few months, though, change has been vital to my life. I’ve had the issue in the past of staying inside this little box, never opening it up to new and sometimes scary things. But as the quote above reads, your comfort zone can keep you from implementing great change, that could actually benefit you in the end!

Honestly, I have not noticed that I struggle with change until about 7 months ago, when I met my boyfriend, JT. He is always trying new things, whether it be diets, workouts, new items to cook, you name it haha! Fear has never been an issue for him, and he is constantly going out of his comfort zone. He has been a HUGE motivation for me to get up, try something new, and reflect if it was effective or not. He can tell you as well as I can, that I absolutely struggled the most with this at the beginning; I would build up so much anxiety with new things, and I would sometimes even give up just because it was so new and fresh.

Your comfort zone can be a good thing to keep in mind, but in situations where you could benefit yourself in the future, GO FOR IT. Take the risk, because if not, you lose an opportunity that you did not have before. Often times I miss out on a lot of new and fun things, because I simply do not put myself out there to experience them. Luckily, JT being the life coach he is, has driven me to crave change. CRAVE the chance to better myself, and become something that comfort zones do not allow for.

I remember towards the beginning of meeting him, he took me to the gym haha…mind you, I had NEVER worked out at the gym before. He showed me around, giving me specific workouts that I had not done before, acknowledging that I did not have the equipment at home that was available there. I was automatically uncomfortable, closing myself off to new feelings, new challenges. I remember feeling very uneasy about trying it, just because I was out of my “normal” setting. I honestly SUCKED, quitting here n’ there, and I would tense up, all nervous, everywhere that gave me something new.

In saying this, you are going to fail. You are not going to NAIL your first try on new, fresh things-instead, you might fall on your face. Though it may be new, and though it may be difficult to adjust to, you never know unless you give it some EFFORT. I found myself giving up more than I kept trying, and this led me to miss out on a lot of cool things that would later benefit me in my future. With some extra confidence and disregards to my anxiety and comfort zone, I started to achieve so much more. Today, try something that is new! Try to put yourself out of your comfort zone enough to be open to fresh, unfamiliar tasks that you may be weary on trying. Thanks so much for coming to read, and I hope you all tackle the day, putting fear and doubt aside. I’ll check back in with you all Wednesday:)
