selfLESS.

"You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh ; rather, serve one another humbly in love." Galatians 5:13

Hehe heyyy! I'm so happy you're here for yet ANOTHER Faithful Friday! The objective in today's post is honestly getting MORE and MORE absent as the years go by. The amount of times we say "I, me, mine, my, etc..." is ABSURD! More now than ever I stop and think to myself..."Gosh. I hope I don't talk about myself too much or seem too self-absorbed." When I am getting to know someone I may meet, I am ALWAYS making sure that I give them the chance and the ability to freely talk about themselves, so that THEY KNOW I am interested in learning more about them. A lot of times I get off track and start rambling on and on about each and every part of MYSELF, and I'll realize later on in the day that they may feel like I don't care about getting to know them.

I remember going to my weekly therapy appointment and talking to my therapist about this EXACT topic. She advised me to STOP and LISTEN to what others have to say. Give them the time of day! Although keeping your needs FIRST is important, there's always a little extra room in our hearts for caring for others, too.

Where I'm getting at with all this rambling, is the fact that WE REALLY get caught up on OURSELVES. What do I need to focus on today? What do I want to get at the grocery store? What would benefit ME the most in this situation I'm in? Sound familiar? It is never a bad idea to keep yourself first, but we MUST keep in mind that there's people around us struggling, just as we have before. Jesus lives with such a giving, loving, and caring charisma, that ultimately made others want to come and talk to him. He was always up for a good chat, and ALWAYS made others feel welcome in an unfamiliar place. He performed MANY acts of service for SO MANY different people. Though he was challenged by those who disliked him, he always remained kind.

I want you to keep in mind today, that the person standing next to you may not have such an easy life at home. They might be struggling to keep their composure, DROWNING in stress and overthinking. We've all been there! I have always GREATLY appreciated anyone who reads my energy and notices a change. That means they care! Even a good, simple, "Hey, you ok?" lets someone know you've got them in mind. Start your day off with some generosity. Clean up the kitchen for your mom! Wake up early and go snag your daughter her favorite coffee before her first day of school! Plan a surprise yummy dinner for your husband on a hard day of work! A little goes a long way, and society these days has been neglecting the importance of having a servant's heart; it's hard to find selfless people these days!

To wrap things up for you guys, try your ultimate best to make someone's day this upcoming week. Write them a little note, encourage them when they're struggling with a school assignment, smile at them in the halls, offer help if they need it! I promise you they will absolutely appreciate it, and you'll feel good, too! God has done so much for us, the least we can do is go out and serve a few people here n' there with him in mind! I hope this reached out to you in some way, and I hope you have a FABULOUS weekend! Thank you so much for reading! See ya next Friday!
