YOUR GOALS>YOUR EXCUSES

“But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” 2 Chronicles 15:7

Hehe heyyy! Welcome to another post! Thank you so much for joining me today, and I hope you find something in our chat tonight, that you can take into the upcoming week! Today’s topic is a little confrontational and cut-to-the-chase, but it has been sitting on my heart. Recently more than ever, I have had the opportunity to meet a lot of new people; whether it be through work, school, social media, etc. Though this is an exciting process and a great way to make connections, it can also pose some challenges.

Today I’m going to give you several questions to ask yourself, that I want you to FULLY and TRUTHFULLY answer. In order to totally pinpoint possible areas of growth, we ALL have to not only be transparent to others, but especially ourselves. Though it may be challenging to admit, you HAVE TO access the courage to be honest to yourself. In regards to being truthful, please ask yourself the following questions:

  1. Are the people I surround myself with making me a better person?

  2. Do I often jump at the opportunity to fit in and blend with others, so that I can be apart of something?

  3. Are my days the same, recurring pattern of doing the bare minimum?

  4. Do I settle for any company I may have, so I have someone to talk to vs being alone?

  5. Do I let others determine what my day looks like, and do I make spontaneous, irrational decisions, based on what others tell me to do?

These questions may be a lot for you to answer, but just take a minute and be real with yourself.

Let me be 100 percent honest with you all…At some point in time, at least one of these questions had a bad answer to it. At some point in our lives, or even right now, we have a problem taking our 24 hour days into our own hands. I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase, “We all have the same 24 hour day, it’s up to you to choose how to spend it.” Notice that phrase does not say, “It’s up to your FRIENDS to choose how to spend it.” Believe it or not, I am currently struggling with all the questions I made you ask yourself. I have constantly caved into others wants, instead of recognizing mine.

The Lord did not put us on this Earth to just follow what everybody else is doing. He gave us all our OWN brain and our OWN 24 hours, so that we could use it to our best advantage and get the most accomplished that we possibly could. The excuses that have paved their way through the goals you have built have GOT to go. My biggest excuses lately have been “I have so much work”, or , “I’m hanging out with (so and so) that day.” Luckily, I am blessed to have a motivating, accountable holding figure in my life that makes me recognize those excuses, so that I can rid of them and get after it.

I know many of you may not have that in your life, so let me be the one to tell you: Your excuses have a much lesser value than your upcoming goals. The verse at the top reads, “But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” The beginning of this verse encourages us to be strong and to keep our foundations through the challenges we may face while reaching our goals. THIS MEANS that if you have anyone that weighs you down or is NEVER on top of it, you have GOT to weed them out of your priorities. You HAVE to.

I know this post may be confrontational, but it’s not an easy task! I know it is very difficult to remain steady in uncertain situations, but if you put your faith in the Lord, he will absolutely take care of you. If you are persistent and hard working, he will most definitely reward you. I have never experienced anything that proves that statement wrong. After you read this post, I encourage you all to get off your phones, go somewhere quiet, and write down one BIG goal. One that means a lot to you, and one that is positive and productive. After you do, tape it somewhere that you can easily see every single day. Do NOT let everyday excuses and plans get in the way of this goal. Do anything and everything in your power to accomplish that goal, and when you reach it, write down a new one!

To wrap things up for you guys, this is going to be challenging. This is not going to be easy, but anything that comes easy won’t last. Fix your eyes on God, and be working towards that goal with him in mind. With him as the motivation. Like I said earlier, I am so very blessed to have a motivating person in my life who is extremely goal oriented and driven for success. If you do not have that, let me be that for you! Never let others get in the way of your grind. Never put those excuses in front of your goal, or reaching it will be impossible. Thank you so much for tapping into today’s post, and I hope it spoke to you! I pray you all will have a productive, rewarding upcoming week, and I’ll get back to you next Friday!
